Over the years, the number of homeless people in Bengaluru city have increased.
Driven by a need and looking for opportunities for a better life, these people employed by the informal sectors, come to the cities. Lack of adequate resources keeps them on the streets.
Impact India Consortium (IIC) & its partners in collaboration with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanangara Palike (BBMP) carried out the survey of Homeless people across eight zones of BBMP in 2018 and 2019 to address the needs of homeless people in Bangalore city
Till date, 9 BBMP shelters are being managed by IIC affiliates and 100s of homeless are being provided temporary shelter. Many of them have been rehabilitated over this time. IIC continues to support the homeless.
In 2019, Impact India Consortium (IIC) expanded its impact across each & every BBMP wards of Bengaluru. A total of 4199 Urban homeless were identified under this survey.
In 2018, Impact India Consortium (IIC) & its partners in collaboration with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanangara Palike (BBMP) carried out the survey of Homeless people across eight zones of BBMP during Dec 2018. Around 5109 homeless were identified.
