Our Manifesto

Our Manifesto

Urban Homeless (UH) are persons who do not have a house, either self-owned or rented, but instead:

  • Live and sleep at pavements, parks, railway stations, bus stations and places of worship, outside shops and factories, at constructions sites, under bridges, in pipes and so on;
  • Spend their nights at night shelters, transit homes, short stay homes, beggars’ homes and children’s homes;
  • Live in temporary structures without four walls and roof, such as under plastic sheets, tarpaulins or thatch roofs on pavements, parks, nallah (drain) beds and other common spaces.

The UH community are homeless due to poverty, family problems, health problems, perpetual socio-economic factors.

This community has all age groups, genders without access to civil and political Rights.

They are hence invisible to general society and the government.

Impact India Consortium (IIC) focuses on the Urban homeless community.

IIC works on advocacy with stakeholders to increase the number of shelters and also help UH lead a dignified life.

The multiple interventions include provision of shelters, access to social entitlements with civil & political Rights, health services including physical & mental health, housing and to improve their socio-economic status.

EVERY CITIZEN DESERVES TO LIVE A LIFE OF DIGNITY
