A group of like minded NGOs have been working with urban poor & particularly with Homeless in Bangalore City since 2009.
The 7-member Office Bearers with Dream India Network as the Secretariat named “Impact India Consortium” was established in October 2017 to specifically address the issue of homeless people in Bangalore City.
The purpose of this initiative is to uplift and rehabilitate the city’s homeless.
Over the years, Impact India Consortium, BBMP and its member organizations have been actively engaged with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
We conducted an exhaustive base-line survey of urban homeless in 198 wards of BBMP in 2018.
During this, we identified more than 5000 urban homeless persons.
We then studied in detail the different problems faced by the urban homeless. A proposal was submitted to Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI) in Bengaluru.
